I’m about to embark on a new blog series where I start again in affiliate marketing, documenting my journey as I go, using whatever I have available to turnover a profit through building sites, ranking them and converting visitors. I’ve already started this journey and have been researching and planning for some time, however there are always new challenges and hiccups ready to test us.
Recently we saw Google go tits-up again and dismantle the Google Keyword Tool, replacing it with a dressed up turd called the Keyword Planner Tool which is basically the same tool but without some core features and now requires AdWords. All in all a sorry excuse for squeezing more people into AdWords.
Since the change you might have noticed that the “closely related” feature was dropped faster than Frank Kern’s hype-wagon. Well as I’ve been doing a lot of research lately I found the Keyword Planner to be messy, returning lots of irrelevant keywords I simply was not interested in.
Then I came across a very simple and incredibly useful little tool which costs nothing(this isn’t a sales pitch, I’m just waffling on). It basically takes a keyword and runs the keyword through Google with a letter of the alphabet afterwards and scrapes the Google auto-suggest. The result is a lovely neat set of blocks containing very relevant keywords you might never have thought of.
I’m sure the site has been around a while but I hadn’t found it up until now and since the Keyword Planner is like flogging a dead horse it is logical that simple tools like this are coming back with a vengeance.
The tool is called UberSuggest and it is completely free to use. I’m finding it very useful right now with the current problems the new Keyword Planner has provided us.
Let me know what you think of it.
Lastly, Goodbye dear sweet keyword tool, we will meet again in Valhalla.
